History and origin

Native to Europe, marigold has been cultivated since a long time elsewhere in warm temperate regions of the world. It has always been recognized for its calming and healing properties. The plant has yellow or orangey yellow flowers reminding a small sun. Its Latin name Calendula comes from the fact that the plant has a very long period of bloom which lasts for months. In Latin, calende means the first day of the month. Some cooks do not hesitate to incorporate marigold to their recipes because the flowers are edible.

Production Method: Fresh flowers are macerated in the sun in an organic vegetable oil (sunflower or olive), then filtered. Vitamin E added.

Main Components: Oleic acid (14 to 40%)

Linoleic acid (3,5 to 20%)

Stearic acid (1 to 7%)

Palmitic acid (4 to 9%)

Oil Characteristics: Oily liquid with a reddish orange colour and a floral scent, slightly bitter.

Properties: Healing, softening and relaxing the skin.
